The Yard Cottage, with rampant roses round the door, is set in its own secluded grass yard. Built in 1840, it is the original stone homestead, which has been fully restored. Upstairs there is a pretty double bedroom with an en suite bath/shower room and wooden floors throughout. Downstairs there is a twin bedded room, cosy living/dining room and a small galley style kitchen all with slate floor.

Environmental Notes

You can reduce your carbon foot-print by staying at Glensallagh. Electricity is partly generated on site by a 2.5kw wind turbine. You'll notice a slight green tinge to the lights, when it cuts in but you won’t be disturbed by the noise which is only ever a soft whirring.

A large basket of logs are also supplied to the Yard Cottage for the solid fuel stove.

The practical bits

Check in after 15:00 and check out by 10:00.

Changeover days are Saturdays without prior arrangement.

We provide all bed linen and towels. Additionally, we welcome you with a basket of our own produce; this includes eggs for your first breakfast and salad or some other similar seasonal vegetable. There is a washing machine and tumble drier in the shared laundry room on the ground floor of the Tractor Shed building close by.

Good Dogs with Good Owners are welcome.

Glensallagh is a Television Free Zone: It’s all about peace and quiet and a rural escape from the rest of the world…. However, we can rent one for you if you really insist.
